Located at the heart of the village, this square where grow an apricot tree and a Loquat tree (Eriobotrya japonica) has an essential element in the life of the village : the fountain.

The Fountain
Perched on a rock, Eze suffered for a long time of a lack of water. Until recently, the inhabitants collected the water in one of the two cisterns of the village or had to take it in a fountain located at the bottom of the village. In 1924, only M. Samuel Barlow, an American composer installed recently in Eze, has his own water arrival. Five years later, the municipality permits the setting up of pipes necessary to the arrival of water on request of M. Balakovic, a Yugoslav violinist and his Highness William of Sweden, both residents in the village.

In 1930, Samuel Barlow, installed a fountain bought at one's own expense in Italy. The water is drawn from the Channel of the low cornice in Eze seaside and sent to the village by a pump. The Ezasques will have to wait until 1952 to benefit of the running water in their home. If the fountain doesn't provide for the domestic needs of villagers, this small fountain decorated with a mask found a new life in the eyes of many tourists who refreshed the warm days.
