| Francis Blanche Square |
|
At some steps of the Moorish
gate, the small square Francis Blanche is one of the most charming
of the village with his vine giving raspberry grapes with a very
particular savour, his false pepper plant, his passionflower,
his fuchsia, his rose bush and his jasmine which are clutched
with the walls. The famous humorist discovered Eze Village in
1946 as he was working in Radio Monte Carlo. Immediately, he fell
in love with the place and in particular with a house located
below the exotic garden.

Very quickly, taking advantage
of the proximity of the Victorine Studios in Nice, other actors
join him the time of an evening or a short day : Jean-Marc Thibault,
Darry Cowl. The jokes burst forth and the meals follow one another.
Francis sounds the bugle in the village to announce the lunch
.
Unforgettable actor in the "Tontons Flingueurs" or "La Jument vert", singer, author of more than six hundred songs, he died in Paris on July 6, 1974, but it is in Eze that he decided to rest for eternity. His epitaph sounds like a last joke : "Let me sleep, I was made for that". |
